Day One - The Saga Begins

Two parties arrived at the Salt Lake International Airport with purpose and direction, though to be sure their directions were quite opposite. One party would embark on a wave to paradise, the other, to an infernal struggle. Such are the pathetic musings of Mr. Mom.

Yes, it's true. My sister and her husband planned a trip to the Caribbean and their babysitter backed out at the last minute. On the bright side, they had a variety of strangers show up to respond to an ad on Craigslist - scary. So what is a self-respecting uncle supposed to do, anyway? Kick the little ones to the curb? I just couldn't do it. I volunteered to take care of their four kids, ages 12, 10, 8, and 4 for the next ten days. Catherine is very busy preparing for and taking finals, so I'm taking on the challenge as a single father of four. I'm not really sure what to expect, but as long as nobody dies, it will have been a success.

Day one (Saturday) was pretty chill - we played games together, ate Edamame, enjoyed some Garlic Chicken Pasta for dinner, and watched Meet the Robinsons for movie night. Brianna (recently turned 4 year old and only ) has a very defined routine for going to bed, including bedtime stories, songs, slippers, being tucked in just right, a special CD, and the door has to be open at the perfect angle. Who knew??? Stay tuned for adventures in Alpine!
